New starting point (updated Monday, Sept. 1):
We will meet at the parking area just inside the west park entrance off of N Broadway, just north of Polk City (west side of the lake). Use this address for your car's GPS: 12101 NW Big Creek Drive, Polk City.
We'll walk a heavily shaded portion of the Neal Smith Trail that crosses seven wooden bridges and has several moderate hills and valleys. The trail begins just across the road from the parking area. Bring a lunch if you would like to eat after hiking for approximately an hour.
For those of you who do not have GPS in your vehicle - Driving directions from Des Moines: Take Hwy 415 (2nd Ave) north out of Des Moines to Ankeny. Turn left at Oralabor Road and continue on Hwy 415 as it curves north to Polk City. In Polk City, when Hwy 415…
