Walks in 2026
The Greater Des Moines Volkssport Association (GDMVA) wallking club will try a number of new kinds of walks, including evening walks in 2026.
January & February
As it has become a tradition, the GDMVA walking club started the new year with a walk at Jordan Creek Mall. A second walk was held on Valentine's Day also at Jordan Creek.
March & April
The outdoor walking season began in earnest in March with a Saturday walk through the trails in Beaverdale. April walks took the group to Fairmeadows Park followed by lunch, Waterworks Park, and an early evening walk at the Raccoon River Park.
May & June
Our daytime 4F walks (fun, fitness, friendship, food) and our evening "Night Owl" walks kept us busy in late spring and early summer. Some members enjoyed a "weekend" walk in May and visited 3 counties in southern Iowa - getting closer to the goal of walking in all 99 of Iowa's counties.
