About the event
Join Diana Whited in a walk at Iowa's newest state park. In the 1930s, the surrounding area was a coal mine. The State acquired the land in the 1950s, but it wasn't dedicated as a state park until 2004.
The walk is on a paved road with a bike land and includes a possible side trip through the woods. Pit toilets are available at the start and along the trail. This is a 5K Traveling Guided Walk which qualifies for AVA credit and includes a $4 fee to walk.
Driving directions: On Hwy 69 at Southridge Mall, travel south about 5 miles. Turn left onto Elk Horn Street. Take the first right to enter the parking lot. We'll meet in the parking lot just as you enter the park. Questions? Contact Diana Whited at diwhited1969@gmail.com
