About the event
For the "Sturgeon Moon" walk, we will walk the hills of Woodland Cemetery and see the final resting places of many of the founders and influencers of Des Moines (Hubbell, Savery, Ingersoll, Hoyt Sherman, Weitz, etc).
We will meet at the parking lot of Freedom Financial Bank located at 600 ML King Jr. Pkwy (southwest corner of ML King Pkwy and Woodland Ave).
From there, we will cross Woodland Ave and enter the cemetery. It will be a hilly walk and about 50% of the walk will be on brick roads. Although the brick roads are in good shape, they undulate in places creating an uneven surface. The paved sections are smooth and even.
